Aloha, Lovecat,
Aloha Style is not just a state of mind and optimism and being nice… it’s also a lifestyle, and one major component of that (other than “Just Cruise!”) is that one does not wear shoes in the house.
{ Day in the Life: I Carry My Shoes For Pictures }

So you might be wondering why in the world do all my photos have me wearing shoes in the house? That’s super not Aloha Style at all. So why wear shoes in the house? Well, I don’t really WEAR THEM-WEAR THEM in the house. I always take my shoes off at the front door. For the purpose of photos, I carry my shoes to the spot where I will take the photos, put them on “on location” and then wear them only at that spot until I’m done shooting. Then I immediately take them off and put them back in the shoe rack near the front door.
Here you see me putting them on at the chair and I wore them only on that spot.
Why go through all the trouble of violating a pillar of Aloha Style… why not just shoot outside? Logistics. I live on a mountain where it is often whipped by the easterly trade winds. It’s often cloudy along the mountain summits whereas it might be 8-10 degrees warmer and sunny down at sea-level just 800-1000 feet down. I work anywhere from between 40-50 hours a week, and, by the time I get home, the light is already so low, outdoor pictures are impossible. Basically, timing and weather. I always have to take my photos indoors or on a weekend, but who has time to play the outfit photographer on a weekend when you should be out in the great land of adventure and curiosity that is the paradise and explorer’s playground otherwise known as our home? I mean, really. Would you bother spending hours taking outfit shots on a Saturday morning when you could be out at the beach?
No?
I didn’t think so. Me either, frankly.
But those are seriously my favorite shoes ever.
Hope your week is going FANTASTICALLY.
Rock on, Lover!
