Aloha, Lovecats,
I’m blogging from bed on my iPad–how fantastic is that? Um, pretty effing awesome, actually.
This week has been pretty cray. Work is insanely busy–training and learning never ends, and the demand for Human Resources… Well, they are hungry for us, I tell you, hungry! 🙂 With all the meetings, driving and lots of hours logged at a desk for hours and hours, my back is a bit stressed, and my evenings have been spent resting, stretching and trying to relax a little. Consequently, I’ve eaten out a lot, the laundry was almost chest-high when I walked out the door this morning, and I can’t remember the last time I actually walked Bear myself.
Let’s just say, life got a little cray this week. And while life is good in general, and I’m very happy, it would be nice to get back to normalcy, when I feel okay enough to do my Yoga, walk the dog, blog and cook decent dinners.
I’m not complaining by any means. I love my life, I love my new job, I love my family, but when my back gets testy, my entire routine goes askew.
Here’s what has been up lately other than my fabulous job:

A fellow Hawaii fashion blogger raided my shoe closest, and interviewed me for her YouTube channel and blog. We talked shoes, shoe dos and don’ts, shoe style advice, my favorite pairs and some horror stories. Video should be up soon at SwankyCyn’s Blog.

Sunday, had brunch with my favorite Dragon Queen, my former boss, D. Now we are simply good friends and I love that we can have an open and fun relationship and enjoy each others company without the added layer of boss and employee. She is seriously one of the most interesting, fun and fabulous women I know. Plus, I could borrow her clothes easily–she is so tiny and svelte! Any fashionista would die to have D’S closet!! Getting to spend time with her at brunch–Brunch, people!!–was awesome. The sun was up, the water looked amazing from our table and the buffet was sumptuous.

Sunsets this week have been epic. So sad we haven’t chased one properly recently–as much as we used to–but I snapped a great one as we walked Max around the marina following some Acai Consumption.

I haven’t shot my decent outfits–even though I was totally cute all week, I promise.
Husby has had pneumonia all week, and we’ve both been pretty out of commission. But yesterday
was the five year anniversary of our getting engaged on Kauai’s Na Pali coast, on the Kalalau trail… On a cliffside above Hanakapi‘ai beach. Husby was supposed to be in Kauai this last weekend to camp and hike with some of our friends–a trip we’d originally planned together prior to me finding my new career, for which reason I couldn’t go. However, he was stricken with a sudden illness which he later found out to be a severe viral infection (diagnosed as ¿walking pneumonia?), and, despite his immense desire to go, decided last minute to play it safe and stay home to recover. A couple days later, he had reduced lung capacity, was wheezing, sore and miserable.
He is thankfully recovering now.

I guess the universe works in weird ways. I couldn’t go (work). Husby got sick. It would’ve been the weekend anniversary of a momentous day 5 years ago on which we decided to marry and move our lives to Hawaii three years later (which actually did happen). So maybe this was the Universe’s way of saying it was a trip we had to do together. A fruition, concretization and full circle kind of thing.
By the way, today is our four year wedding anniversary. My back hurts and Husby is still sick. Anniversary C (aka, one of three in the year) will be a quiet one. I think we will save our energies and moolah for the big anniversary (B, aka the Dating One) next year, on which we will hit Nine Years Togetherness. Or, maybe we should celebrate big on our five year wedding next summer… Dunno. It’s a year from now. We will figure it out. 🙂
Hope your week has been brilliant. Remember to always choose that today is the best day of the year. Happiness is 75% fixing your perspective.
Rock on, Lover! Happy Friday! What are your plans for this weekend?
Me ke aloha ~ With love + aloha,
Mae Xx
